Chapter 1

Everything changed when the third best friend of mines had disappeared.  No, that's not true; it had changed when the first person in town disappeared.  Cammie Shene was the first of them to have gone missing.
Cammie's real name is Cameryn, but my friends and I gave her the nickname Cammie, since it was easier to say.  We had looked everywhere for her dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, but we never found her.
Everyone in town had spent weeks looking for her, but nothing ever came up.  It seemed as if she had just . . . vanished.  While the search for Cammie was still going on, someone else had vanished.  This time it was Sylvia Bonner.
Without Sylvia's red hair, blue eyes and happy attitude to get everyone to smile, everyone, everything turned dark and gloomy.  But we all tried harder to search for them, since their disappearances were only weeks apart.  But we found nothing still, and like Cammie, she had disappeared without a trace.
Most people had started to lose hope that we would never find them, and they slowly started to drift back to a normal life after a month of looking.  But not my friends and I. Cammie and Sylvia were in my main group of friends, and it was strange not having them around.  So Casey, Ally, Beth and I kept looking.
We kept looking for two months, after school and during the weekends.  No one had disappeared during that time, and I was getting a bit relaxed, since no one had gone missing.  But I was wrong to relax at all.
I was wrong, because that was when Casey went missing, right after the day I started to let my guard down a bit.  Instead of going missing without a trace, there was a note that I had found directed to me, when Ally, Beth and I went to her house so we could walk to school together.  It said:

If you want to find your friends,
go to the park at midnight and bring
only your last two friends with you, Emerald.
                            TELL NO ONE ABOUT THIS.
If you do, then one of your three friends will get hurt

I showed the note to Ally and Beth.  "We have to go Emmie! It could be a big clue to where they are!"  Beth shouted at me, and I pushed her back a bit, since she was way to close.  "But it could be a trap!  Ally, what do you think we should do?"  I asked Ally, since I thought she might know what's the best thing for us to do was.  Don't get me wrong, I wanted to go, but since the note addressed me, everything was my fault.  I just didn't want anyone else to disappear.
Ally was taking a long time to answer, but she finally spoke.  "I think we should risk it, it might be out only clue of finding them."
"Okay, if we're really going to go, you guys are going to have to sleep over at my house, since it's the closest to the park."  I called my mom and told her that Ally and Beth were staying over, and she was fine with it; as were Ally and Beth's parents.
After school, we went to my house and made a note saying that we were going to look for Casey, Cammie and Sylvia, and not knowing when we would get back.  After we wrote that note, we all took a backpack and filled them with clothes.  I got ready a messenger bag full of food and money, so we wouldn't be hungry if we got lost.  Ally, being the one who remembers everything, made sure that we had our cellphones and chargers.  By the time we were ready, it was almost 11pm.
I lead the two of them down the stairs, being extremely quiet, not wanted to wake up my parents.  I then unlocked the door, and it thankfully didn't creak at all, but opened silently.  Beth and Ally went out the door first, and I placed the note on the table next to the door.  I closed the door after that, and locked it with my key.
We stayed quiet the entire two blocks we had to walk; not even daring to whisper and risk waking up everyone.  Once we got to the park, we all checked the time.  Only five more minutes left until midnight.
The time passed by slowly, taking its time to tick to midnight, but nothing happened.  "No one's here guys, this is so not cool." Beth whispered to us, shivering, because the wind had picked up.  "Wait," Ally whispered back.  "Something might happen soon."
And something did, because at that moment, a medium-sized box came down from the sky, with a parachute attached to it, floating down until it landed in front of us.  "Strange," I mumbled, walking up to it with a stick and started to poke it.
"Guys, it's safe to come over here.  I think we're supposed to open it and see what's inside to find them."  I motioned them closer and they complied.
"I wonder what's inside," said Beth.
"Who knows? There might be a map on where we go.  Or maybe there's a weapon for us to use!  Wait, even better, maybe it's a magical creature!"  Ally was starting to get sarcastic, so I opened the box.
"Guys," I said.  "Ally's right, there's a map, but I know you were kidding about a weapon, but there's a bow and arrow that's gold, a sword that's a sapphire blue, and daggers that looks like the color of silver.  They also have the sheaths for the sword and daggers, and a holster for the arrows.
They had crowded around me to see if I was telling the truth, and when they did, they both took a weapon.  Beth took the bows and arrow, since she's been taking archery starting when she was little, and Ally took the daggers, because she had helped her dad hunt with knives and sometimes through them at targets, always having a strange accurate throw.  I took the sword, because I've been doing fencing for a while, and my parents have taught me how to fight with one.  We all checked if they were really gold, sapphire, and silver.  Beth's arrows and bow didn't tarnish in color, my sapphire was hard, and it cut through anything, meaning it must have a diamond-edge in it, and Ally's daggers made a cling sound.
Beth and I were still admiring our weapons when we heard Ally talk.  "Guys, there's like another compartment here."
We walked over to her, and saw that she had used one of her daggers and pried open the bottom.  "Whoa," Beth gasped.  Inside the secret compartment were potions that could fit perfectly into my hand, and they all had labels on them.  There were potions that could heal you, turn you gaseous, revive someone from unconsciousness, knock someone out, and a ton of others.  There was a flute inside a case, but I didn't understand why there was one.  Since only I knew how to play it, I stuck the case into my bag.  We split the bottles evenly and put them into our bags, and then finally decided to look at the map.
"Okay, so do you guys know what part of the world is the map showing us?" I asked them, since I couldn't figure it out, but it looked strangely familiar.  "I don't know Emmie," said Beth.  "It could be anywhere."  Ally snorted at that comment.  "Way to be positive Beth."
"Hey," Beth said defensively.  "I'm just trying to be realistic."  I stepped between them before they could start fighting.  "Beth's right, we should try to be realistic," at that, Beth smiled smugly.  "But Ally's right, we should try to find out where this is, and be positive."  Ally stuck out her tongue at Beth.
"Anyways, I think I know where the map is showing is," I said.  "It looks like it might be near where we are, because look, I see some places that look a bit familiar."  I circled a spot on the map with my finger, near a pond.  "See that pond?  It looks like the one that we always go to when we want to relax."  They both studied the map for a while.  "You're right Emmie!  It does look like it!"  Ally exclaimed out of surprise.  "Well, what'cha waitin' for?  Let's go there so we can find them!"  Beth stated as she pushed us toward the direction of our destination.
"Guys," I resisted. "We need to think this through, even though we know where the pond is, don't you think this is a bit too easy?"  Beth stopped pushing us.  "Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit easy."  "Yeah," Ally added in. "But I still think we should head that way.  If we meet anything that's dangerous, we got new weapons to stop them, so we should be fine."
"Okay, if you guys say so," I said.  And with that, we all went on our way toward the woods where the pond was located.  Little did we know what we had to face just to save our three missing friends.
This is another story that I had to write for Language Arts. I did the ENTIRE story in 1 week, and caused me to stay up really late, just so i could be sure that i would get a good grade in that class -.-"
